Day 7 – The old bill meets the big bill

Surprise – surprise, it’s up early to make a picnic and get out for the day using the very reliable public transport system once more. Today it’s off to Rose Bay via the train and the ferry.

Great company again

With a dip in temperature of over 20⁰C in 12hrs, it’s a much more comfortable day for a hike.  The four of us set off with our picnics, cappuccino for some, and headed for Rose Bay.

12,847 miles to London

Only 12,847 miles to London, but we’ll go to Brisbane and Singapore before heading home.

We came across the Big Bill who only flashed their gullets when the camera wasn’t on them.  Pelicans were not playing ball or bill today.

The Big Bill
No pelicans crossing

For the past few days we’ve all been watching the sea-planes come and go across Sydney Harbour. As we came to Rose Bay, we saw their landing site, with a few coming and going at regular intervals.

We missed our flight

We’re all set for an 8km walk stopping half-way at Shark Beach, not sure i like the sound of that after yesterday’s proceedings.

So we’ve come half way and arrived at Shark Beach. The size of the nets says it all.  However, I think a clever shark would find it’s way in.

Is it safe?
I’ll have a look on the bottom
Is that 100% safe???

So after a beautiful swim it’s time to head on to Watson Bay for the ferry home, another stunning walk.  Today the terrain was often flatter with more frequent blocks of elevation and descent to the beaches, but nothing near as gruelling as the mountains. Passing a few secluded beaches on the way and a bridge over Parsley Bay, which seemed to be a great fishing and swimming spot.

I’ll go

The Old bill

Once at Watson Bay we went to the top of the cliffs to see the Pacific Ocean, next stop Peru from where we were. On the cliffs there was a high police presence, but they just seemed to be casually talking.  As we were leaving they did a whole shift change.  A new meaning to the changing of the guard.

What do you think?

It was then off for an ice-cream and to take in the wildlife before the trip back to Circular Quay.
